Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at erin@gibbonsmc.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

Most waterfront construction projects require permits. New work typically needs approval from the Maryland Department of the Environment (MDE) along with a county permit, and some projects may also require review by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (ACE). Certain repairs or replacements may only require a county permit. Most permits take 4-6 months for approval.

At Gibbons Marine Construction, we handle the permitting process for you from start to finish—making the process simple so you can focus on your project.

Yes! We consider this an important asset for your protection. We have a Maryland home improvement license (MHIC# 88030, MDE #006E) and are fully insured.

We service all of the Patuxent river and its attached waterways. We can access parts of the Potomac by land.

Signs of shoreline erosion include loss of land, exposed tree roots, collapsing banks, or waves washing away soil. If you notice these issues, it’s best to have a professional assess the shoreline before further damage occurs.

Project timelines can vary depending on the scope of work, permitting requirements, weather conditions, and site access. Smaller projects may take only a few days once permits are approved, while larger projects can take longer. We’ll provide a clear timeline once your project is reviewed.
